ATV Adventure & Gold Mine Tour

Your guides will lead you through Cholla Forests side canyons teeming with desert wildlife such as red-tail hawks, lizards, desert tortoise, and jackrabbits. Spring rains produce frequent encounters with waterfalls and streams. The summer heat brings with it Desert Bighorn sheep, thirsty for the waters of the nearby Colorado River. Since the Yuman and Mohave tribes inhabited the area there is petroglyph proof scattered as art on the rocks and grinding stones found in the knobby hills. Also, old mine shafts plaster the landscape with one of the biggest mining booms in state history occurring in the El Dorado Canyon around 1859.

When you ride into the valley and toward the mining town of Nelson you will see the remnants of old buildings and the Techatticup mine that is supposedly haunted. Nevada is dotted with many ghost towns, but where else can you find a ghost MINE? Formerly known as the Savage Mine, photographers claim they have often capture pictures of spirits or ghosts. The mine itself has been restored and preserved over the last decade along with a number of buildings at the mine site. Across from the mine is the historic 1861 building which serves as a museum to the area and to the Techatticup Mine. Here you can browse through a display of old photographs, tools and other mining memorabilia.

This adventure is perfect for beginners and advanced alike. You'll be exploring Eldorado Canyon for about 2.5 hours on your ATV, combined with a guided tour of the Techatticup Gold Mine in Nelson. Your guide is a local expert knowledgeable in desert ecology, flora and wildlife and certified in CPR/First Aid.

(Note: All riders must be at least 16 years old. Riders under 18 must have a parent sign a waiver. Riders under 16 will be a passenger on an ATV with guide.)
